... could accuse him of criminal activity, for he had pointed out to Adam and Eve, the exact place the tree was supposed to be found. If he had said nothing, generation on generation would have passed without anyone taking slightest interest in the forbidden fruit, presumably the tree was in a forest full of similar trees, and there fore of no particular value.

But God proceeded quite differently. He devised a rule and found a way of persuading somebody to break it, merely in order to invent punishment. He knew that Adam and Eve will become bored with perfection and would sooner or later test his patience. He set a trap, because, He the Almighty God, was bored with everything going on so smoothly: If eve hadnt eaten the apple, nothing of any interest would have happened in the next Billion years.

When the Law was broken, the Omnipotent Judge, even pretended to pursue them, as if he did not already know all the possible hiding places. With the Angels looking on, amused by the game, he began to walk about in the garden.
Where art Thou? asked God.
"I heard they voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself,' Adam repliedwithout knowing that by making this statement he confessed to his crime.
